First sketches

Monday, July 14th, 2008

After several weeks of frustrating camera and connectivity issues, I can finally start posting sketches. Victory! I don’t have access to a scanner at this time, so I’m using a camera on my sketchbook and tidying the results in Photoshop; when I return to civilization in late August, I’ll scan everything in properly and replace the images.

Presenter during training; N.M. Dept. of Game and Fish?Stuffed deer/antelope, from training week. The sketch on the left is one of the presenters from training week, way back in early June – I believe he was from the either the New Mexico Dept. of Game and Fish or the National Forest Service. On the right are a stuffed and mounted deer and (I believe) antelope, also drawn during training week.

To explain, since I don’t think I have yet: I’m spending the summer post-graduation working out at the Philmont Scout Ranch in northeastern New Mexico. This is my 5th year working here, and the last for the foreseeable future. It’s a great place to work, and I’m working with a fun group of people; but the pay isn’t great, and I’m not really using my BFA, except in my free time (I’m employed as a cook). So in August, it’ll be back to the ‘real world’ and job-hunting.
