I figured I should teach myself to draw horses properly this summer, at least get the anatomy down, if not all the movements. After all, there are about 50 horses at camp, and I’d be an idiot to let that kind of opportunity get away. Here’s a solid afternoon’s worth (or two? days are blurring together a little) of dedicated sketching:

On the left, gesture drawings of a few turkeys in the corral. They were looking for bits of horse-feed on the ground, I guess. On the right, my first attempt at drawing a horse from life. Not great, but I posted it because on the same page I did a quick horse caricature that I kinda liked.
